Rabbit- Proof Fence reading

1.       In chapter 3 the aboriginal populations face being forced off their land by the European Settlers. The European settlers were trying to colonize the aboriginals and take away their resources for their own use. The European settlers took away the aboriginals right of equality because by making they feel degraded and taking away their land and not sharing it with them took away their right to, own the, land they were bred on. They also took away their rights of opinions because that right was taken away from them when they colonized them, and took away their children so if someone had an opinion about what they were doing they would be silenced. Lastly they took away their rights for living standards because if you take away resources that were already established before the white people where even their then it makes people who have the right to own the resources feel bad. The white people took away the resources and forced them to live with what they had.

2.       By civilizing Australia it was like the U.S civilizing the Native Americans when we wanted their land for “gold”. By taking away the right to land that they have lived on for centuries, and centuries makes them feel horrible like the death of a child, you will always feel that love for it and the pain will never go away. Even if the U.S apologized they would maybe forgive but never forget what was done to them.

3.       No the government had no right to take the children of mixed descent away from their parents that they knew and loved. By relocating someone they will never let go of the pain that happened to them as when they were taking away. Like when the first thing a child sees is its mother and it has an unspoken bond from first site and you put them with another family that may abuse them, not love them, and treat them badly then you ruined a child’s life. They ruined the kid’s life because they took away their rights for adequate living standards because they government doesn’t really care about the children they just don’t want someone to have them. They also took away their right to family because they will never be able to see their family again. Yes, they may see them in a few years after they have been taken but the bond and the relationships will never be the same.

Invasive Species

The cane toad is native to South America. They were introduced in 1955, they move in short rapids hops and sit up right. They are usually inactive during the day and active at night. When a Predator attacks the cane toad or bites them they will realease a milky white poison. Their diet consists of mostly insects, and will ingest any animal they can like small lizards, frogs, fish, birds, mice, bees and worms. The cane toad usually breeds between the months of april to september; female toads can conceive 8,000 to 35,000.  They made their way to Ausrtalia by South Americans and they are primarily found in Queensland. The problems the cane toads are causing are that they can poison humans and or pets. The people have tried many methods in triying to fix the cane toad problem by spreading a virus to the toads but it didn't work because the virus could kill some not poionus toads and other species.

The species  I chose that is an invasive species to America is the Lady-Bug. The problems the Lady-Bug is causing is that it is endangering plant life. The way some people are fixing the problem is that they are bringing in other species like the C-7 which is a yellow lady- bug and it is native to Asia and Europe to kill off the lady bug and control its overpopulation to save the plants.  We should be concernd with invasive species because they may not look harful but they are. We just dont know how dangerous they are to the environment. Even in America we have invasive species like insects who endager plants. Like in Australia with their Rabbit problem. In their country the rabbits are over populating there country and eating up all of their plants. And too like them. we have brought in other species to get rid of the invasive population of some of the insects.
