-I travel because it gives me a sense of different cultures and different foods. It also lets me experience the different animals that live in the country. My reasons don’t really align with Iyer’s because he travels to find himself and loose himself in the country. He also travels because he wants to see the poverty that different people have all over the country he doesn’t really talk about the nature side of his experience while traveling.
-This means that you should come to a country with open arms. And don’t think of it as a new place but think of it as an old place you’ve been before and find different things to experience. This relates to me by when we travel we should come to the country ready to experience what it has to offer.
-This means that when you go to a new country you may have fear about it like the new foods you can try or the language they speak. This relates to our journey because we are all kind of scared about the stuff we’re doing and the new things we’re going to experience and the roommates you’re going to have.
-“The first great joy of traveling is simply having the luxury of leaving all my beliefs and certainties at home and seeing everything I thought I knew in a different light and form a crooked angle.” I choose this quote because it seems like he’s explaining the media can over exaggerate on a country and its hardships until you can experience them for yourselves. He’s also saying that everything he thought he knew about that specific country is different when experienced for the first time.
